Singapore

Singapore is a beautiful city and country. It has a population of about 10 million people, from different countries such as India, Malaysia, China - a real mixture. It got it's independence from Britain in 1967 and then broke away from Malaysia in 1969. Singapore has no natural resources but they have managed to be a very successful financial hub.

During my stay, I stayed at the Raffle City Swissotel Stamford Hotel which was next to the Raffle city shopping mall (yippee!) and opposite from the world famous magnificent colonial 'Raffles Hotel', where the first ever Singaporean cocktail was served (also had tea in the Tiffin room/Writer's bar)

On my first night there I had dinner at the 'Equinox' restaurant, where one can see a beautiul view of Singapore. Singapore is wonderful for shopping, it has soo many shopping centres and malls such as Chijmes (a heritage chapel turned into beautiful boutiques and bars/restaurants, Funan centre (great for electronics), Marina square, Suntec City Mall, Raffles city mall and Orchard Road etc.

I was able to visit the Night Safari - which was exciting and scary and cleverly done. There was also a very funny night show at the safari. Chinatown is a great place to visit with nice bargains. It has a couple of temples there as well.

I also visited 'Sentosa Island' which is a themed attraction, tropical resort, nature park and heritage centre all rolled into one. I went to the amazing 'Underwater world' - the aquarium, and the Butterfly park & museum, and the Dolphin Lagoon with a Dolphin show. I also went to Siloso beach. There is also Merlion (which I didn't visit), Singapore's sculptured Lion, and the Cinemania - which is a 3D imax cinema!. There is also the Musical Fountain - Dance of Fire and Water Show' in the evening.

Boat tours are available at both Boat Quay and Clarke Quay. Boat Quay also has some nice restaurants along the singapore river.

I was also able to visit the tranquil singapore botanical garden.
